In 1992, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) introduced the ENERGY STAR program as a way to identify and promote energy-efficient products in order to reduce greenhouse gas pollution. Homes with ENERGY STAR-labeled products are designed to perform 30% more efficiently than the typical home.
