  • Expanded in Pronghorn Ranch with the opening of Ridgeline.
  • Joined the American Southern Home family of homebuilders.
  • Chris Harrison became Division President for Dorn Homes.
  • Voted Prescott's Best New Home Builder in the Daily Courier's Readers' Choice Awards & Quad Cities Business News 2021 Best of Business Awards.

2020

  • Opened Westwood at Deep Well Ranch in Prescott, AZ.
  • Completed the CCJ Lodges & residents moved in.
  • Opened at Tubac Golf Resort - We are back where it all started in Southern Arizona.
  • Lodges won the Gold Nugget Best Supportive/Transitional Housing.

2019

  • Opened the Vistas at the Dells in Prescott, AZ.
  • Opened the Parkside Series at Walden Farms in Prescott, AZ.
  • Opened our new model homes at Wickenburg Ranch.
  • Partnered with CCJ to build The Lodges to help end homelessness in the Prescott Area.
  • Launched the No Hassle Move-Up program to provide a simple way for our buyers to sell their existing home.

2018

  • Opened Quail Canyon, our first community in Cottonwood, AZ.
  • Grand opening of Saddlewood at Deep Well Ranch on Prescott, AZ.
  • Expanded our Pronghorn Ranch community, adding Shadow Ridge.
  • National recognition for best architecture for our Sunflower and Enchantment plans.

2017

  • Began construction in two communities in Sedona, AZ: Sedona Ranch and Seven Canyons.
  • Recognized as the Best Home Builder in Prescott by the Daily Courier Readers’ Choice.
  • Chris Harrison joined the team as the VP of Field Operations.
  • Opened the popular Walden Farms community in Prescott, AZ.
  • Launched our Dorn Cares program.

2016

  • Released the Organic Home, which received national recognition as a top green program.
  • Voted best place to work in the Prescott area by the Prescott Chamber of Commerce.
  • Voted best homebuilder in the Prescott area by the Quad Cities Business Journal.

2015

  • Astoria is opened in Prescott, AZ.
  • Honored as Best Place to Work by the Prescott Chamber of Commerce.
  • Won Gold and Silver Nationals awards for Best Architecture from the Nationa Association of Home Builders. AZCentral Reader's Choice Award for #1 Homebuilder
  • Opened Two brand new model homes at Quailwood Meadows in Prescott Valley, AZ.

2014

  • Dorn Homes Opens the Villas at Quailwood in Prescott Valley, AZ.
  • A new Design Center is created in Prescott, AZ.
  • Pinnacle Views is opened in Prescott Lakes.
  • Dorn Homes partners with Homes for Our Troops and begins construction on a new home (mortgage free) for an injured Veteran in Prescott Valley.

2013

  • Dorn Homes opens Rimstone, offering luxury homes in Sedona, AZ.
  • Construction begins within Laughlin Ranch, a master planned community in Bullhead City, AZ.
  • Dorn Homes breaks ground in Prescott Lakes, adding Pinnacle Views and the Retreat to the community.
  • Viewpoint is opened in Prescott, Valley.

2012

  • Dorn Homes becomes the largest builder in Northern Arizona.
  • Steve Davis joins Dorn as Director of Construction.
  • Dorn Homes begins construction in Quailwood, a master planned community in Prescott Valley.


2011

  • Under Jim Gunby & Ellen Carpenter's leadership, Dorn opens the Northern Arizona Division in Prescott Arizona. 
  • Dorn becomes principal builder in Prescott Lakes.

2009

  • Dorn Homes enters the Rio Rico and Oro Valley housing markets.
  • Dorn Homes becomes first production builder in Arizona to offer standard full solar homes (Solar Smart). 
  • Dorn Homes starts the Midwest Division, led by Dan Houx, entering two communities in Missouri.  

2005

  • Dorn Homes becomes largest builder in the historic town of Tubac, Arizona. Builds custom homes, golf villas, Barrio de Tubac master planned community, and Tubac Golf Resort housing. 

2000-2004

  • Dorn Homes is ranked the #1 Custom Home Builder in all of Southern AZ, including Tucson, four years in a row! 
  • David and Ellen Grounds become sole owners of Dorn Homes.
  • Dorn Homes launches their Building Science Initiative, offering their customers the most energy efficient homes in their marketplaces.
  • Ellen Carpenter joins Dorn and becomes the Executive Vice President.

1990-1998

  • Dorn Homes grows into the most successful builder and developer in the towns of Green Valley and Sahuarita.
  • Santa Rita Springs becomes the #1 Selling Active Adult Master Planned Community in all of Southern Arizona.

1998

  • Michael Dorn begins building shopping centers, restaurants, auto centers, and office buildings in the Scottsdale area. 

1971

  • Michael Dorn moves to Scottsdale, Arizona and begins building custom homes and apartments. Over the next 15 years he builds hundreds of apartments and custom homes. 

1967

  • Michael Dorn begins building multi-family apartments in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area after a career in the lending business.
