The Lodges

The Coalition for Compassion and Justice has collaborated with Dorn Homes to develop a new affordable housing property in Prescott. The Lodges house 4-6 individuals that would otherwise be living in a shelter. Dorn Homes built two Lodges locally as part of the effort to end homelessness in the Quad Cities. These properties provide residents an opportunity to gradually transition from shelter living to market housing by offering the stability of a home while ensuring that living costs are within residents’ means. This stability, coupled with the services of CCJ, represents a critical first step on the path to independence.

CCJ Lodges Grand Opening & Client Stories

Chris Chamberlain's Story

It seems so long ago, but feels like yesterday. The burned bridges, with only a tether to get back. It’s the same story for many people. The anguish, the hopelessness, the unknowing of what lies ahead. Homelessness. Luckily for some who want help and to work for a better life, they might find themselves at the front door of CCJ. Such is the case of Suzy and I. Neither of us were ever homeless in our lives before, but due to depression followed by addiction to alcohol, we found ourselves in this predicament. After months spent at the CCJ shelter, we were finally able to save enough money to move into one of the Second Chance housing units. We met in the shelter and realized we have the same goals. Our life today is a complete 180 compared to 9 months ago. We both currently work for a recovery center helping other alcoholics and addicts. It’s something we both enjoy. CCJ has blessed us with a permanent residence. Last December I was voted on to the CCJ Board of Directors. I hope that, with the other Directors, we can end homelessness in the Prescott area. We are just two of many success stories that CCJ has helped make come true. There are many more to follow.

Forever thankful, Suzy and Chris
